This Internet database integrates information on sequence, structure and function of short-chain dehydrogenases/ reductases.
The BioCatNet Database System aims to collect and present comprehensive information about biocatalysts: sequence, structure, educts, products, environmental conditions and kinetics. Moreover, it will reveal structure-function relationships to boost development of novel biocatalysts.

The SDRED combines sequence, structure and function information on short-chain dehydrogenases/ reductases from the Classical, Extended, Intermediate and Divergent superfamilies. It allows for systematic analysis of one of the biggest protein families and serves as a tool for navigating this vast protein family. The SDRED is enriched by additional information such as the composition of sequences and structures and linked taxonomic information. Standard numbering schemes allow to identify equivalent positions for the Classical and Extended superfamilies.
